Block Walking For Peter Brown!
August 2, 2009
It’s Houston. It’s summer. And it’s hot out. In fact, it was nearly 100* yesterday. But that didn’t stop our supporters from coming out in force to kick off our campaign’s city-wide block walking effort.
We had 74 supporters show up, excited to tell Houston voters about Peter’s vision of a safer city with a stronger economy and a better quality of life. A quick tally of our canvass sheets showed that we managed to knock on more than 3,600 doors, and spoke directly to nearly 1,100 voters. What a way to get our grassroots field program started!

Supporters and staff meeting before getting started.
We met at starting points around the city. Members of our field staff made sure that everyone knew what they were doing and what to expect, and then we headed out to speak with voters and tell them about Peter!

We knocked on more than 3,600 doors and spoke with nearly 1,100 voters!
Our block walking efforts were a big success. Our supporters fanned out all across Houston and contacted voters in targeted neighborhoods to help us build toward victory in November!

After all their hard work block walking, supporters enjoyed cool drinks and a picnic.
Afterwards, we met back at Memorial Park for a Picnic. Peter spoke briefly to the group, thanked everyone, and invited our block walkers to share their experiences out in the field.

Peter spoke with the supporters at the picnic.
Our canvassers reported very positive responses from the voters they contacted, and it’s clear that Peter’s message, and his record of results are appealing to voters.

Irene Johnson, a strong supporter and Chair of Women for Peter Brown talks about her experience.
Thanks to everyone who showed up. We look forward to more great events as our campaign continues to build momentum and work towards victory in November. To get involved, visit www.peterbrownformayor.com/join and sign up today!
